Automating Blog Post Releases and Sharing

Are you a part time blogger? Are you really busy juggling all your different roles and responsibilities? Spacing out your blog posts is really important but sometimes it can be hard to find time to publish them at the right moments and share them out on your social media accounts at the times that they’ll be seen by the most eyes. This is why automating blog posts and their releases as well as your promotion of them over social media networks is so important. Let’s look at some tools that can make this a breeze.

Automating Blog Posts

Brian Gardner of Copyblogger recently tweeted that “Friends don’t let friends start blogs NOT on WordPress.” He’s right. WordPress is one of the world’s leading blogging platforms and it’s the one you should be using. It’s the platform Kastom Media uses.

One of the nice things about WordPress is that it allows you to schedule the time and date that you make your posts visible to the public. This is instrumental in making sure that your posts are shared with your audience at a time that is actually effective. Putting out a post at 11:38 PM on a Saturday night might not be as effective as automating blog posts to be released at 11:00 AM on a Tuesday depending on who your audience is.

Automatically Sharing Blog Posts

There are lots of great tools and resources for automatically putting items from an RSS feed or WordPress blog into your Twitter feed. The one that I prefer is IFTTT. IFTTT stands for “If This Then That” and allows you to connect dozens of services together to automate tasks between them. In terms of automating blog posts and automatically sharing them out on your Twitter, Facebook Google+, LinkedIn etc., you simply connect your WordPress account and any social media accounts you want to use and set up a recipe to send new blog posts to the network of your choice.

My Blogging Platform Doesn’t Let Me Schedule Posts!

What if you can’t automate your blog posts? Well you can still automate the time that you share them with your social networks. Check out Buffer. It allows you to schedule tweets, Facebook posts and LinkedIn posts. Use IFTTT to monitor the RSS feed for your blog and send new posts to your Buffer to be sent out later!
